William Henry Long (b.1782) and Anna Buchanan of Washington Co. VA

Descendants of Edward and Jane Jones Long  Edward Long was born about 1737 in Pennsylvania to Thomas and Martha Thatcher Long. He married Jane Jones January 17, 1762 in Augusta County Virginia. About 1767 the family had relocated to Loudoun County. From 1777 to 1781 Edward served with Capt Chrystie's Co, 3rd PA Regt under Col. Craig. He was involved with the Pennsylvania Line mutiny. After the war the family relocated to Pittsylvania County where Edward died in 1806 and Jane in 1821.

Philip Long of Germany  Philipp Lange. Born in 1756-7. Lives in Wirmighausen in 1775 where he enlists in the 3rd Waldeck. Arrives in New York(1776). POW and deserts(1777). Deserts in August 1778. Deserts again from WFRF(1781), a Loyalist militia. Enlists in KAR from 1781-1783. Emigrates to Canada with Loyalists(1783). Marries Julie Couillard(1792). Courier from Quebec to Fredericton for 19 years. Moves from Lac Témiscouata to Clair NB in 1827. Dies in 1832. Since his enlistment in the WFRF, he became Philip Long.
